Getting Cozy In A Sweater Dress Outfit
And just like that we are already halfway through February! I don’t know where the time goes. While as quickly as time passes, I hate to say that in Canada we are only in the midst of Winter, and February seems to always be the coldest, most dragged out month. How depressing. On the plus, the days are lasting longer and I am very OK with the sun staying out past 4 pm. As well, whenever we do get snow in Toronto, it seems to disappear very quickly, so the new Sorel’s that my boyfriend got me have only made an appearance over cottage weekends up North.
During the Winter months I basically live in oversized sweaters; I have my few favourites (this & this) on repeat. Along with my oversized sweaters, I have a couple pairs of leggings (these & these) that I rotate through to accompany my comfy at-home look. I say at-home, but in reality it is not as limited to “at-home” as it should be.
When it’s necessary to get out of the sweaters & leggings, the next best thing is of course, a sweater dress! I find a sweater dress outfit one of the easiest and coziest pieces of clothing to throw on to look effortlessly put together. You really can pair them with anything, be it a pair of motorcycle boots and a leather jacket for a cool day look, or with high-heeled booties and a trench to take it into the evening.
What I love most about this Mink Pink dress here from FIGJAM.TO is the slit, which is unexpected for a typical sweater dress outfit. It adds more detail and femininity to the look, and because of the height of the slip, you can get away with so many great footwear options! The slimmer fit of the dress also makes it more versatile; you can dress down with sneakers or dress up with heels. The long sleeves also make it cozier, which I am all about in these cooler months.
Wondering how to bring the sweater dress outfit look into the office? Look for a tighter knit (vs. chunky knit) like the one I’m wearing here (or like this)– think ‘fitted’ rather than ‘oversized’. Then add a pair of sheer black tights, your favourite pump and a classic tote. The overall look will appear less casual and very work-chic.
Going to brunch with the girls? One of my favourite ways to wear the sweater dress outfit is with a pair of over-the-knee-boots. With this option (pictured below), the more oversized the sweater dress the better…especially if you’re going for the pancakes!
The options really are endless, and it can be a great staple to anyone’s Winter wardrobe. I have linked the one I am wearing below, plus a few others that I think you’ll love!
Stay warm, stay chic.
