NYE Look

And just like that 2016 is coming to an end. It’s been a great year & I have a lot to be thankful for, but I’m already looking forward to what 2017 will bring!

I was back home in Winnipeg over the Holidays, where my parents & siblings live, and we celebrated New Years early. Our tradition is to have our New Year’s Day dinner at The Keg, and we go around and each say a goal for the upcoming year. A goal of mine this year is to be more present; it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle & bustle of life and I sometimes forget to appreciate the current moment.

New Year’s Eve is a fun time to celebrate the years changing over and of course it gives us the chance to get dressed up and have many glasses of champagne! I always love a little black dress, but this one from Figjam.TO takes that LBD to the next level. I love it!

This dress has so many amazing details to it. I love the nontraditional slit which gives the dress a classic, yet sexy feel. The halter strap, combined with the fanned shoulder detailing provides just the right dramatic flair. It’s such a perfect dress for NYE, but also for any semi-formal or formal event!

When I think of NYE, I always think red lips! It gives me the instant feeling of glam, which I think is necessary for a New Year’s Eve look! I love this true red colour by NARS, which compliments my red nails and black and white dress. I threw my hair up in a quick low bun, which can be done with really any hair length. I generally wear my hair down for events, but having my hair off my back and shoulders shows off the details of the dress better.

I wanted to keep the look quite classic looking, so I paired it with these pointed toe pumps (similar here or here). The suede tie around the ankle adds just that extra something from the traditional black pump.

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year and see you all in 2017!

Carling xx
