Guys, I’m soo happy that we’re halfway through February! This means winter is (slowly) coming to an end. I find it can be hard to find things to do in the winter, and so it really drags on. My sister visited this last weekend, and I really wanted to plan some fun activities! We had a packed visit that included a Raptors game, spin class, lunching, manicures and a trip to NOTL for a Niagara wine tour, which of course meant allll the wine.
I love Niagara on the Lake; definitely one of my fav easy weekend getaways from Toronto. I’ve been a few times in the fall, but never in the winter! We had the pleasure of joining Niagara Vintage Wine Tours on one of their vehicle wine tours, which was perfect for the snowy day. We had the BEST time, and highly recommend for a girls trip or romantic getaway.
We did the Niagara Wine Tour with Lunch, and it couldn’t have been a better experience! It started bright and early with a 9:30/10 am pick up. We drove in from Toronto the morning of (literally left at 6:30 am); we were able to check into our B&B at 8:30 am to get ready, and they picked us up right at the B&B door. We were with an intimate group of 10 in total, and everyone was excited for the day.
This particular wine tour (Niagara Wine Tour with Lunch) included 4 wineries, and a 4 Diamond 3-course lunch. It included 12-16 wine tastings per guest, and we certainly were not hurting for more wine! The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, and it was evident he was passionate about his wine. He even gave us a few tips to make our wine photo opps even better!
The 4 wineries we went to included Konzelmann Estates, Marynissen Winery, Pillitteri Winery and Pond View Estates. We tried all varieties of white, red, bubbles, and ice wine. They were *very* generous! Our lunch was at the Hob Nob at The Charles Inn; it was incredible. It could’ve been the two wineries worth of wine, but the Truffle Mac & Cheese might be the best mac & cheese I’ve ever had… 100% recommend.
From the start of the day with our “breakfast bubbles” at Konzelmann Estates, through to the end of the day with an ice wine chocolate shooter at Pond View Estates, the tour with Niagara Vintage Wine Tours was a great experience. It was the perfect winter weekend activity, and we really had the best day!
I hope this gives you another idea for a fun winter weekend getaway. They operate year round, and I will definitely be going back for a tour in the summer!
