I love a good foundation, especially one that looks light and natural on the face; one that looks basically skin-like. I had terrible skin growing up, so my objective was always to layer on as much foundation as possible, and now that my skin is in a much better place I like my make-up to accentuate that. I’m also a skincare junkie, so I try to use make-up, particularly foundation, that won’t counteract the benefits of all my skincare! Because I still get the occasional break-out, I wear foundation pretty much daily. I go for light coverage when I’m running errands or to the gym, but on my day-day if I’m going to meetings or a shoot I like medium-full coverage. Given I am wearing it on a daily basis I defintely prefer to keep it at an affordable budget.
With these specifics in mind, I recently tried out two different spray foundations; Dior Airflash Spray Foundation and Jerome Alexander Airbrush Foundation. These two foundations were designed to give you that “airbrush, photoshop finish” that you see on the runways or magazines. The following comparison was:
|Dior Airflash Spray Foundation||Jerome Alexander Airbrush Foundation|
While the Dior Airflash gave the flawless, matte finish it claims, I preferred the more skin-like, silkier finish from the Jerome Alexander Airbrush. Again, being a skincare junkie you can tell the Dior has drying alcohol in it, whereas the Jerome Alexander includes anti-aging peptides, hydrating and antioxidant agents, plus a natural SPF given it’s a mineral based foundation. There is also a significant price difference, and the Jerome Alexander Airbrush foundation definitely does not hurt the bank account!
